Project Background
A large private, investor-owned utility had developed a backlog of vegetation clearance prescriptions (15,000+), wood pole replacement projects, and related facilities work. Local vendors were not able to address the environmental screening and permitting workload in a timely manner.
Scope
OMS staff conducted desktop environmental constraints reviews and database searches to assess proposed projects for potential to trigger discretionary agency permits. Screening utilized GIS and associated databases. OMS staff provided releases for construction and provisional releases for construction with prescribed BMP’s and avoidance measures. OMS staff also directed permitting activities for projects that could not be reconfigured to avoid discretionary permits.
