Project Background
OMS Field Services, LLC (OMS FS) staff were engaged by a private, investor-owned utility to conduct vegetation pre-inspection to facilitate and expedite electric distribution system hardening services. The client’s objective was to implement electric system hardening to protect against wildfire and storm threats. The client also simultaneously upgraded the system to accommodate sectionalization, telemetry, and system protection hardware. Previous efforts to conduct vegetation pre-inspection services had resulted in numerous unresolved environmental and customer constraints. OMS FS staff replaced the prior contractor and cleared a large backlog of these unresolved constraints.
Scope
OMS FS vegetation pre-inspectors were tasked with resolving the numerous constraints that had been identified by prior efforts to conduct vegetation pre-inspection of electric distribution circuits. OMS FS resolved these constraints so that system hardening efforts could continue on high-priority and high-fire-threat circuits throughout the client’s service territory. OMS FS worked with our client’s customers and regulators to resolve these difficult and complex constraints in a timely and cost-effective manner.
